Weddings |
Wedding Checklist |

Check with priest that he is available to assist at wedding and that he is on the civil list of solemnisers |
|
Decide on wedding date (allow a minimum of three to six months notice) |
|
Attend a Pre-Marriage course (6 months in advance of wedding date) |
|
Discuss ceremony details with celebrant |
|
Meet a civil registrar at least 3 months before the wedding to give notice of their intention to marry. Couples are advised to contact the Registrar of Marriage well in advance, before the intended date of the Marriage to ensure they get a timely appointment |
|
Receive the Marriage Registration Form (MRF) from the civil registrar of marriage |
|
Bring the MRF to the solemniser to ensure the details are accurate |
|
Make a verbal declaration of no civil impediment not more than 2 days before the wedding |
|
Return the signed MRF to any civil registrar not later than 1 month after the wedding |
|

Letter of freedom from each parish you have lived in for 6 months or more |

Dispensation- if your prospective spouse is not a Roman Catholic Or the marriage is to be in a non-Catholic church |

If you want the Pope’s Blessing, you will need a letter of recommendation from your priest. The blessing takes 12 weeks to obtain. A brochure is available from Veritas |
